Getting ready for a first date? Here are some great tips

First dates are exciting. It’s all about first impressions and getting to know each other. Which is why you need to be at your very best. The conversation needs to flow and you need to say the right thing at the right time. And, of course, you have to look and feel great. If you’re feeling insecure, it will show. So, here are some tips on what to do before your date so you can walk into the restaurant or coffee shop with confidence.

Prepare a couple of outfits the day before

Many people make the mistake of picturing an outfit in their head and not trying it on until an hour before the date. This is a major mistake. You don’t know what really works until you put it on. And you don’t know what you’ll feel most comfortable in on the day. So, work out what you’re going to wear at least one day before your date. Put aside two outfits so you have an alternative in case you change your mind at the last minute.

Clean up before you start getting ready

Just because you showered in the morning, doesn’t mean you don’t have to freshen up before an evening date. You’ve been busy running around the whole day and you probably don’t smell as great as you did when you first got dressed. You don’t want to show up to your first date with pen marks on your hands or a smudge on your face that you hadn’t noticed.

Focus on personal grooming

If you have a beard, now is the time to trim it and get rid of any stray hairs. Or if you’re wearing a skirt, make sure you’ve shaved your legs. And of course, you need to be moisturised. Few things are less attractive than dry skin. Make sure you’re using the right moisturiser for your skin type. If you have skin problems, you probably need a product that focusses on dry, sensitive skincare. Of course, you’ll find exactly what you need in Ingram’s range of moisturisers.

Come up with a few conversation starters

Nothing ruins a first date as quickly as conversation running dry. And since you’re likely to be nervous, that’s a very real possibility. So, it’s always a good idea to have a few conversation starters up your sleeve. Remember to ask them questions. You may come across as arrogant if you only talk about yourself.
